//v3nt

1:32 AM :
well, i promised i'd explain what i meant when i said i was jealous of this blog, so here i go.

i wrote both this blog, v3nt, and hypocracy.101 (hereto referred to as h.101) from almost scratch. i got the idea for h.101 from another blog design, and i found the computer hardware image off of a stock photo site. the menu was easy to do, blah blah blah. that was several months ago. if you look through h.101's archives, you can see it's been there a while.

i originally created v3nt as a kind of test blog. you know, a place to try out different styles and formats, if i got some crazy new idea, here's where i would test and troubleshoot it. i had been pestering james (who i think is mad at me for it) to change his blog's style, as it's a default style that comes with a free blogger account (one of about half a dozen you can choose from) and is very plain. all he did was change the color to his liking. since he lacks the know-how and expertise in html/css to create a fresh blog style, i thought i'd do him a favor and try out a green-colored theme. i figured he'd like it and want it; i thought he'd end up using the format on his own blog and i'd go back to testing things. well, he got stubborn and told me that if i didn't like his blog's style, i didn't have to read it. not what i expected at all. not a bit.

i was a little shaken, but no matter. jerod had liked this style, and the name fit very well what he had in mind for a blog. jerod had planned on starting a blog of his own anyway, so i made him a member on this one. so now i have a blog, h.101, james has his CRAPPY blog :p, and jerod has this one, v3nt.

simple enough, right? wrong.

i became jealous of jerod's blog. never mind that i was already an admin, since i had created the thing. never mind that i could post when i wanted, what i wanted. what mattered to me was the idea that i had h.101, and jerod had this one. i wasn't about to take v3nt's style away from jerod, but i liked it so much better than my own blog's. keep in mind that as a web designer i had grown and matured in the ways of css and the like; the design was undoubtably better than the one i had done from h.101.

so i decided to abandon my own blog (at least for the time being) in favor of this one. odd, i know, but it's so much better here. i like the picture, too. i got that off the same stock photo site. it was originally a plain old grayscale 1024x768 pixel photo in jpg format, but i resized it and colored it green. no great task, but the effect, i feel i can say without ego, is wonderful. it complements the font color and the feel of the page in general nicely, i think. i am rather proud of this page.

now i wish james would talk to me. and where is jason? i haven't heard from him in a while.

i added the link to the stock photo exchange site on the right. i also changed all the links so they automatically open up in new windows. do you like it? hate it? let me know.
