threaten this
5:24 PM :
oh, you can't make this stuff up. microsoft says firefox is not a threat. i think i'll quote some choice sections.

[steve] vamos [microsoft australia's managing director], who admitted he has never used firefox, said there is a lot of hype surrounding the open-source movement and that if microsoft's customers wanted new features, they would have told the company about it.

apparently they're deaf.

"i don't agree that just because a (competing) product has a feature that we don't have, that feature is important," he said. "it is not. it is only important if it is a feature the customer wants. there are plenty of products out there with features we don't have. we have plenty of features that our customers don't use.

like security?

ben english [microsoft's security and management product manager] reiterated that features such as tabbed browsing are not important to ie users.

oh, okay. my bad. i guess add-ons like maxthon, which enable tabbed browsing for ie, aren't that popular (you'll note that wikipedia mentions ie by name in being the exception ;). or maybe mozilla, firefox, konqueror, safari, camino, and opera have it for no reason and nobody uses it anyway.

in other news, winamp is dead. or dying. sigh, i will miss it. on the other hand, i still use v2, so what am i sad about? ;)

so, do you like the new color scheme?
