jess's sister jewel will be staying with us for a few days, until she can drive her car again. both her and her mom's cars' tires were slashed two nights ago, although just the tires facing the street, not the curb.

last night the three of us played monopoly, but we had to save the game because jess and jewel had to get up this morning at 5:45. i didn't have to get up until 6:30, so i showered and went back to bed when jess got up.

my dad is out of the office today and tomorrow. he's at some camp thing with my sister for these two days, i guess. due to all the lovely weather we've been having, there was a power bounce here at the office over the weekend. naturally, this caused the server to reset (even though the stupid ups is supposed to prevent that), so i had to fix drop box permissions this morning. i'm sure, as always, this will also affect the server's backup procedures, so i wanted to let my dad know. i called my parents' house at about 8:40, thinking maybe i'd catch my dad before he left. no luck. mom answered the phone. i think i woke her up, because she was crabby. they have caller id, and she must have seen the office name on the phone, because i didn't even get a "hello?" all i got was, "whatever it is, you'll have to solve it yourself." well, thank you for your confidence, mother. for years now i've been covering for my dad. so i explained what happened and how i was merely trying to prepare him for what he'd be coming back to on wednesday. she got snippy again. "well you'll have to wait until your father gets back." well, no kidding. could you maybe, i don't know, leave him a message? sigh. why must things be so difficult?
