ralph jumps in
3:04 PM :
i had wondered how long it would be until he got involved. i can't speak for jess, but i'd like to say a few things.

With the sarcasm thing as I understood it James was upset Paul's sarcasm in that he felt it was insulting to him, James can ether confirm or deny this at his own, that is simply how it came across to me, and there is a world of difference between sarcasm and insulting.

i agree that there is a big difference. i can't think of a time when i insulted james, i honestly can't. if i have (and i do trust james' memory), i apologize. if james is so concerned about insults, however, remind him how he insults jason as well.

As far as your fishing for complements comment goes the examples you gave seem to be weak examples and again there is a world of difference between complements said to be nice and those said to have real value: what it comes down to is constructive criticism versus destructive criticism.

i suppose we could argue about what james considers a compliment. i've told him more than once how cool some of his shirts are (one could take this up a level to his taste in clothing). perhaps that's a compliment to him, perhaps not. i don't know. i value his opinions; why else would i talk to him? yeah, we disagree on stuff, but everyone does.

did you know, ralph, that i asked him to be an usher at my wedding? if that's not a compliment, i don't know what is. he's my friend, regardless of whether or not he thinks of me as the same.

As far as the Matt defending Paul and James defending Andera: it appears Matt was defending something that he had no information about and I know James has the rationality of analyzing a situation without running into it blindly.

i will agree that matt kinda jumped into something that didn't involve him to begin with, and for that i apologize. however, the point at which he jumped in involved andrea making an uncalled-for comment about my cutting. being a cutter himself, he did not take kindly to a comment like that, and stepped in. i would have done the same. andrea said, and i quote, at least james doesn't cut himself as if a question of worth was dependant on whether one is a cutter or not. i'd say a comment like that could be construed as attacking blindly, no?

Moving right along I don't know who made the comment Christian women should be quiet the bible has been used to justify everything from the slavery to the holocaust to saying that women are inferior. None of which to my interpretation is justified.

andrea said it. i quote: typical christain thinking to think females should be seen and not heard. it was in response to a comment by matt (who, by the way, is not a christian). she didn't like his response to her cutting comment.

And as far as the Christian bashing comment: I am assuming you are referring to ether James, Andera, and (being a non-Christian myself): those being the only non-Christians let me just say that just because we disagree and are open about it is a far far cry from Christian bashing if you want to see what Christian bashing is go to www.bettybowers.com.

i think i'll pass on the website. but thanks for the link anyway. :p i think the christian bashing thing was in reference to andrea's comments. by the way, andrea told me once (and i don't know if james shares this opinion) that she won't forgive me because forgiveness is a trait of christianity. my friend matt, whom as i've mentioned is not a christian, forgives. jon and laura forgive, and neither of them are christians. andrea just seems to me to be a very negative person.

And as far as the adopting Christian morals: both James and Andera have morels that are associated with Christianity- simply because they are not associated with a dogmatic belief system does not mean they do not have morals: I have no morals and I am damn proud of it because morals affect one's ability to conduct rational thought.

you have no morals? at all? i find that difficult to believe. that's like saying agnosticism is the lack of faith. just as agnosticism is not the lack of a belief system but the presence of a different one, you don't have no morals but radically different ones. i don't think they hinder one's rational thought.

a question, and a couple comments. do you forgive people? as for your bookmarks, i'm sorry for your loss. there's a website, my bookmarks, which offers, as a free service, the uploading of whatever bookmarks you want. it supports ie and mozilla (and associated, such as firefox, netscape, etc) browsers' bookmarks. i realize this doesn't help your current situation, but in addition to the local backup of your future bookmarks (which, by the way, yes, i do back them up), you can here keep an off-site store of bookmarks.

one final note.

i'm sorry you feel i hate you, james. i really don't. i suppose i do, as friends are wont to, take for granted your friendship. i'm sure i have with other friends of mine, and i hope for your forgiveness.
